blessing ceremony

In May, I was invited to present my artworks and video installation in the temple gounds to the monks at Wutun monastery. This monastery is reknowned for its beautiful thangka paintings, many of which adorn the main temple in Lhasa. It was an experience I will never forget and  also a great honor to then receive a blessing ceremony from seven monks. I was very humbled and grateful to be the first woman to have had the privilege of ceremony in this sacred place.

Ancient region of Amdo / Qinghai

Visiting Wutun Monastery, Qinghai (Autonomous Tibetan Prefecture), the temple complex, the city of Rebgong and learning about the process of traditional thangka painting.

Visit by Tibetan Buddhist monk artist

Lobzang Palden, Tibetan Buddhist monk artist, well known for his very beautiful traditional thangka paintings, came to my studio. Even though he didn’t speak too much English and I don’t speak Tibetan, we were able to communicate through our art (and the help of wechat translater!) I was invited to visit him at Wutun monastery in Qinghai (Autonomous Tibetan Prefecture) and display my artpieces as part of my touring project to sacred sites around the world.

Immersive installation at the Green T House, Beijing

I was invited to install Infinite Distance, Immediate Presence, an immersive visual and sound installation in the Green T House; one of Beijing’s very special venues, as part of their Spring Tea Festivities. Special thanks to Jin R, Robbie Gilchrist, Nikolaus Ellrodt, Mich Camargo,  ZuHeng and Yiran for their energy on the day.
